Which should you download? If you're a student checking your own grades, use Campus Student. If you're a parent monitoring your child's grades, use Campus Parent. Both apps show grades — the parent app adds multi-child switching and notification controls. For a deeper look at the parent web portal, see our Parent Portal Grades Guide.
Download & Install the App
Getting started with the Infinite Campus app takes just a few minutes. Here's how to download, install, and log in:
Step 1: Find the App
Open the Apple App Store (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play Store (Android). Search for "Campus Student" or "Campus Parent" — published by Infinite Campus, Inc. Make sure you download the official app (look for the Infinite Campus logo).
Step 2: Select Your District
When you first open the app, it will ask you to search for and select your school district. Type your district name or city/state. If your district doesn't appear, it may not have enabled mobile access yet — contact your school's IT department.
Step 3: Log In
Enter the same username and password you use for the Infinite Campus web portal. If you've never set up an account, you'll need an activation key from your school. Can't remember your credentials? Use the "Forgot Password" link or contact your school's front office.
Step 4: Enable Notifications
When prompted, allow push notifications. This lets you receive instant alerts when grades change, assignments are posted, or attendance is updated. You can always adjust these later in the app's settings.
Campus Student App: How to See Your Grades
Once you're logged into the Campus Student app, here's exactly how to find and view your grades:
- 1. Open the app — You'll land on the dashboard showing today's schedule, recent notifications, and a quick-glance grade summary.
- 2. Tap "Grades" — Look for the Grades icon in the bottom navigation bar (it may look like a report card or list icon). On some versions, it's labeled "Courses" or found under the menu (?).
- 3. View the course list — You'll see all your enrolled classes with the current percentage and letter grade for each course.
- 4. Tap a course — Select any class to expand the assignment-level view. You'll see every graded assignment with its score, points possible, category, and due date.
- 5. Check the grading period — Use the term selector at the top to switch between the current quarter/semester and past grading periods.
- 6. Look for flags — Missing assignments are flagged with a "Missing" label. Late submissions may show a "Late" indicator. These are the assignments most likely to be dragging your grade down.
Want to double-check the math? Enter your assignments into our Infinite Campus Grade Calculator to verify that the app is displaying the correct percentage.
Campus Parent App: How to See Your Child's Grades
The Campus Parent app works similarly but adds multi-child management. Here's the step-by-step walkthrough:
- 1. Open the app and select your child — If you have multiple children linked, tap the child selector (usually at the top of the screen) to choose which student's grades to view.
- 2. Navigate to Grades — Tap "Grades" in the bottom navigation or side menu. The layout mirrors the web-based Parent Portal.
- 3. Review the overview — See all courses with current percentages and letter grades at a glance.
- 4. Drill into a course — Tap any class to see individual assignment scores, category breakdowns, and weight information.
- 5. Switch children — Use the child selector to quickly jump to another student's grades without logging out.
Setting Up Push Notifications
One of the biggest advantages of using the Infinite Campus app over the web portal is real-time push notifications. Here's how to configure them:
Grade Change Alerts
Get notified instantly when a teacher posts a new grade or updates an existing score. In the app, go to Settings ? Notifications and toggle on Grade Updates. This is the most popular notification type among IC users.
Missing Assignment Alerts
Receive a push notification when an assignment is marked Missing. This is especially valuable for parents — missing assignments are the #1 reason grades drop unexpectedly. Enable under Settings ? Notifications ? Assignments.
Attendance Alerts
Get alerts when your child (or you) is marked absent or tardy. While not directly grade-related, attendance often impacts participation grades and missed classwork.
Low Grade Threshold (Parent App)
Some districts allow parents to set a grade threshold (e.g., alert me if any grade drops below 75%). Check Settings ? Notification Preferences to see if this option is available for your district.
Not getting notifications? Make sure the app has notification permissions in your phone's system settings (Settings ? Apps ? Campus Student/Parent ? Notifications ? Allow). Also check that Do Not Disturb mode isn't blocking alerts. Some districts restrict certain notification types — contact your school's IT department if options are missing.
Viewing Assignment Details on Mobile
The Infinite Campus app lets you drill into individual assignments to understand exactly how each score impacts your overall grade:
| Detail | What You'll See | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Score | Points earned / Points possible (e.g., 42/50) | Shows exactly how you performed on each assignment |
| Category | Tests, Quizzes, Homework, Projects, etc. | Determines the weight of the assignment |
| Due Date | When the assignment was due | Helps identify late submissions that may have reduced credit |
| Flags | Missing, Late, Incomplete, Exempt | Alerts you to potentially fixable grade-impacting issues |
| Comments | Teacher feedback or notes on the assignment | Provides context on partial credit or special circumstances |
Troubleshooting: Can't See Grades on the App?
If you're having trouble viewing grades on the Infinite Campus app, work through this checklist:
? District Not Found
Not all districts have enabled the mobile app. Try searching by city and state instead of district name. If your district truly isn't listed, you'll need to use the web portal instead.
?? Login Failed
Make sure you're using the correct credentials (same as the web portal). Try resetting your password through the web portal first, then use the new password in the app. Check for typos and ensure Caps Lock isn't on.
?? No Grades Showing
If the app loads but grades are blank, the grading period may not have started yet or teachers haven't entered scores. Check the term selector to make sure you're viewing the correct quarter/semester. See our grade not matching guide for more diagnostics.
?? App Crashing or Freezing
Force-close and reopen the app. Check for app updates in the App Store or Play Store. If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall. Make sure your phone's operating system is up to date — the app requires iOS 14+ or Android 8.0+.
?? Wrong App Downloaded
Make sure you have the correct app: students need Campus Student, parents need Campus Parent. Logging into the wrong app with your credentials will either fail or show no data.
App vs. Web Portal: Feature Comparison
Wondering whether to use the Infinite Campus app or the web portal? Here's how they compare:
| Feature | Mobile App | Web Portal |
|---|---|---|
| View grades | ? | ? |
| Push notifications | ? | ? (email only) |
| Assignment details | ? | ? |
| Download report cards | ?? Limited | ? |
| Category weight display | ? | ? |
| Quick access on the go | ? | ? |
| Detailed transcript view | ? | ? |
Best of Both Worlds
Use the app for daily grade checks and push notifications. Use the web portal for deeper analysis like downloading report cards, viewing transcripts, and examining detailed category weight breakdowns. Pair either with our Weighted Grade Calculator to verify grade calculations.
Tips for Mobile Grade Checking
Make the most of the Infinite Campus app with these practical tips:
1. Check Grades at Set Times
Rather than refreshing constantly, check grades once or twice a day — after school and in the evening. Teachers often batch-enter grades at the end of the day or week. For study strategies, see our IC Study Tips guide.
2. Use Notifications Strategically
Enable only the notifications you'll act on. Grade change and missing assignment alerts are the most useful. Too many notifications can create "alert fatigue" where you stop paying attention.
3. Verify Grades with a Calculator
If a grade looks off, don't panic. Use our Infinite Campus Grade Calculator to manually verify the math. Weight redistribution can make grades look unexpected — see our Grade Not Matching guide.
4. Plan Ahead with Simulators
Spotted a low grade? Use our Grade Simulator to model what scores you need on upcoming assignments to bring it up. Or try the Grade Predictor to see where you're heading by semester's end.
